Burn It Down 'Til The Embers Smoke On The Ground, And Start New When Your Heart Is An Empty Room

Xanga's dead but I'm not. I don't mind that barely anyone checks this stuff anymore... it's ok that people are becoming more and more of what they're becoming and can't even spend the time to write something down for themselves and read from others' and instead would rather peruse photos and brief descriptions of favorite music and quotes and books (liars, you don't even read) and activities and it not mean anything really except a 30 second look at who you want to project yourself to be. And I used to think Xanga was surface.

I'm no less guilty of this than every one of you out there. Hey, I play BlockTetris, and I'm better at it than you, too. I'll write on your wall or comment on your _space and if I'm avoiding my work or any sort of meaningful thoughtlife, I'll look through your pictures, yeah I will.

Maybe I could stand to get rid of some unnecessary-ness.

The flames and smoke climbed out of every window
And disappeared with everything that you held dear
And you shed not a single tear
For the things that you didn't need
'Cause you knew you were finally free

From BBC News Online

The protesters say last month's election was rigged
in favour of President Mwai Kibaki. They have
attacked police with stones during
running battles in Nairobi and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, ethnic clashes continue. This man is
putting out a fire after a house belonging to a member
of President Kibaki's Kikuyu community
was attacked in the town of Eldoret.

Politicians on both sides have been accused of stoking
ethnic tension and violence. This man, from Mr Odinga's
Luo community, was beaten by Kikuyus.

Elsewhere in Eldoret, Kikuyu residents were fleeing their homes.
Mr Odinga said accusations of ethnic cleansing
levelled against his supporters were "outrageous".

"We came close to the tree, a twisted mess, thick, but carved by the desert winds... It's a bristelcone pine... it's a survivor. They can be buried in Alpine blizzards and stand up to desert winds and drifts. They say some are a thousand years old... The roots dig deep in search of moisture from underground. If the roots can't find water, they just keep digging deeper until they do. All you see is what's on top, but most of the tree is underground. That's the only way to survive when you live in a desert..."

- Randy Alcorn, Edge of Eternity

To live in the desert.
